Do we come out of this lockdown as wrecks?
Probably this corona period is a time when you too have a lot to deal with, perhaps double setbacks due to layoffs, financial uncertainty due to economic unemployment, the death of a loved one from covid-19, ...
Should we therefore believe that we will come out of this lockdown as a mental wreck?
Could it possibly be that humans and society are "disintegrating" together, and that this is a positive thing? Dabrowski has the answers.
Why do we get caught up in all the news stories and posts on social media? It often pushes us into a negative spiral!
Let us rightly believe again in our own resilience! Indeed, in the ability to rise like a phoenix and feel stronger than ever hereafter. Plus est en vous! More ourselves, more convinced of what really our values and another step closer to the empathic human being we have wanted to be for so long. What if we just took the time to recover from this profound event?
Dhe corona crisis is such an opportunity, both personally and globally.
The kiss of Dabrowski
During my outplacement counseling I met Chris Van Camp who, through Dabrowski, rediscovered himself and, in doing so, held a key to self-leadership (and the standing up for yourself). Chris Van Camp wrote a book about it: "The Kiss of Dabrowski".
The story of a departure from her mother and a pretty traumatic childhood, but just as much the story of an aha-erlebnis. Thanks to Dabrowski, she saw the opportunity to turn her pain cabinet into a treasure trove.
She puts a heart in the hearts of many burnout victims and, through Dabrowski, provides tools for self-leadership - a leadership that especially people with giftedness, high sensitivity and a high drive appeals.
Chris Van Camp: "The more personal your story, the more universal the values you send out into the world. I told about my bumpy road without hesitation. About the disintegration, the deep valleys I knew, about the feeling of being different, an outsider who sometimes doesn't know how to live anymore and yet springs back. That's called positive disintegration then. If you look at the world now, we are globally in such a process of disintegration. That is precisely why it is so interesting to discover the positive power of it."
What can Dabrowski* do for you? We can certainly figure that out together in the future, especially in work-related areas. An interesting piece in the book is about the link between your drive and loyalty to the company.
From "The Kiss of Dabrowski":
"And yes, they are dropping like flies. Sometimes young people too. Those who have job demands, have a special talent, are perfectionists and want to stay true to their own values go first. Burnout is a catch-all term, being burned out tout court is beyond the phoenix. When your body stops running in the hamster wheel by going on strike, it's time to decide for yourself whether you want to continue participating in the pyramid schemes of the corporate world. You really don't want to go back to square one."
Have you thought about career counseling as stimulation in finding a challenge that suits you?
*The forgotten Polish psychiatrist Kazimierz Dabrowski investigated this phenomenon as early as the 1950s. His theory of Positive Disintegration exposes a fascinating process that indicates that people with high growth potential just through their intense emotions and moments of crisis find the strength to fully develop their personality.
