We have had the opportunity to guide hundreds of (start-up) entrepreneurs in the meantime. And setting prices is a logical step after we have clarified their mission. Because a mission without products or services and corresponding pricing does not lead to a business. And if daring to ask for money exposes mental blocks within you, even the most beautiful mission will lead to stress and eventually end up in the bin. A pity, because it could just as well have been done differently...
But how do you do that, set a good price?
I invite you to dwell on the value you deliver rather than comparing to what competitors charge. What makes you unique How much does it cost a client if he does not engage with you? What does it deliver for him if he does engage with you (not only in money, but also in time and energy)? How much is it worth to him to achieve his desired result?
This is also related to your self-worth. How much do you consider yourself worth? If you are not congruent (thinking, feeling, doing) in alignment, customers are going to feel that and reflect that to you. Then they start doubting you, find you too expensive, go to someone else....
Why is it important to dare to ask a good price?
- It changes your mindset→You're going to take yourself more seriously if you charge higher prices
→ You will try harder yourself, because you want to deliver quality and you want satisfied customers who get value for their money. Good prices make you respect yourself and your work. I'm not the cheapest myself. I want satisfied clients and I want them to go out with the idea that they will recoup their investment x-tig times if they apply what I say. - You attract other customers. If people don't invest in themselves, and therefore won't invest in your product or service, they won't invest in the results either. They are then less satisfied, and you have less satisfaction and it gives you less energy. Nor will they become ambassadors for you. What would it be like to turn this around positively; charge higher prices, get motivated clients, who get great results, are satisfied, you get energized and your clients send people to you? It can be done! I love working with my VIP clients. I get energy from them. They are fast, want to move forward, come prepared, apply what I recommend to them. It gives me satisfaction to see them grow!
- You have money to invest in yourself
Because you charge higher prices, you don't have to work 80-hour weeks to survive. You have time to spare, you can do fun things that recharge your batteries. You also have the budget to continuously educate yourself so that you stay inspired and can pass these things on to customers. I myself spend a lot of time and tens of thousands of euros annually on coaching and training. I apply this knowledge and gladly pass it on to my clients. - You can make the world a more beautiful place
By charging good prices, you have abundance and earn more than you need to. You can support charities with part of the sales. This gives a tremendous sense of accomplishment.
However, money is not the end in itself
If you do, you find that you can't afford it. Money does not drive your mission. People, as well as yourself, feel that. When you work with passion, and know your mission, you know WHY you are doing it. And then the money will come naturally (if you have good pricing).
What about you?
Are you satisfied with your pricing? What would it be like if you raised your prices? What would you do if you charged more money for your work? What would your life be like then?
